Get Healthy Tip #27: Are you doing “Functional Training”? Is it right for you?

At this stage of the game, I am certain that you have at least heard of “Cross-Fit” and/or “Boot Camp” training.

But, do we really need to train in this fashion to attain optimal health?

I would suggest that all of us need to be able to do three primary movements.

By focusing on these three “basic” movements not only will we be improving our overall strength and endurance, but our posture and flexibility as well

Please, do NOT over-train.  There is no reason to sabotage your “health” results just to attain some level of “fitness.”

Do these basic moves throughout the week and work on gradually improving day to day and week to week.  Within a few months you will be amazed at how much strength, endurance and flexibility you have gained!

Functional Training

Remember, prioritize “big” movements that work the largest muscle groups in the body!

For starters I recommend:

SQUATTING:  Full body squats and pulse lunges!

PUSHING:  An assortment of push ups!

PULLING:  Rows and assisted pull ups!
